Only thing I left out was the sunroof. Bit pointless as I already have a very large sunroof in my other car, A4 Cabriolet 3.2 S-Line Tiptronic also pearl black (call me boring). Purchased the Cabriolet in September and it still has only 2k miles on the clock as I mainly work from home.
Just realized, Ken Livingstone must hate people like me lol

The Q7 is replacing my wifes trusty Ford C-Max which is now 2 years old and have to say has never put a foot wrong. A further addition to family (3 kids now) meant the C-Max was becoming a tightish squeeze. My wife will be driving it mainly.

Question for Si, we're looking to put some entertainment in the back for the kids. You mention a drop down screen you had installed (in the centre I presume??). Does this not get in the way of your rear view when it's down? Have you looked at having 2 screens installed on the back of the front seat headrests?

Thanks in advance
Senna
Firstly congrats on the new car and welcome the Q7 Owners Club

Theres no easy way to put this......Yes the drop down screen gets in the way of the rear view mirror. Being 6 Foot, I can still see below it but my girl friend can't. TBH, you soon get used to using the massive door mirrors when ever the screen is down.

We didn't have headrest screens fitted because we have 4 children and I wasn't convinced the kids in the rear 2 seats would be able to see....They can all see the roof mounted screen perfectly

I'm sure Richard will be a long shortly to tell you more about his headrest screens.

As for price, I'm happy to say they are very good value.

Where are you in the country ?

Si

Thumbs up Lovely

Hi all,

Just got home from Milton Keynes and picking up my baby from Richtersport and Lee has done an amasing job at installing the 2 Alpine 7 inch Screens, DVD changer, av inputs. Unfortunatly the Gateway 500 unit failed after they installed it so im waiting for a replacement.

Ive taken the following photos,

They also re-maped the ECU for an extra bhp boost and just on the 75 mile run home i averaged 9-10 MPG more than the trip up. The power is great, the low down grunt is amasing.

Senna, The cost was about £900 for installing the whole lot including the Gateway 500 and £500 for the remap.

Great service from the boys, Thanks for the referal Si.

Thanks for that Richard. Looks brilliant, lovely clean job!
Apologies if this is a silly question but did the £900 include the hardware (screens etc)

£500 for the remap sounds similar to what most others charge. How does their remap compare to the likes of AMD, Superchips etc?

Thanks again

Unfortunately No,

£900 for their expertise in stripping the car down and putting it together again. Something i was not comfortable in doing.

I got the Alpine screens for £300 - they come as a package allowing one black box controlling both screens. This cuts down the install time, only having to run the AV supplies to one unit. Save £££ on install time, but still allowing you to select independent sources on each of the screens. No arguments from the Kids over what they watch!!

Also the Panasonic 8 Disk DVD changer in the boot was about £199

Re-map - Cost i was happy to have it done at the same time as everything else, and Craig seemed to know what he was talking about, They are an Audi affiliated fitter. They also keeps the Audi warranty intact. I can't change the mapping, unlike some i have seen that give you a box to plug in. This is my first VAG remap so i can't comment on how it differs to drive than some other makes, all i know is that the power difference is well worth the cost.

Thanks
Bungle

Thanks for the info Richard. Still excellent value for money. My audi dealer is quoting £2000 for a similar job and they probably won't be using quality screens such as the Alpine units.

How long do the guys at Richter need the car for?

They had it for 3 days. but only because i couldnt pick it up earlier and i told them to take longer if they needed.

I hired a car localy £130 for the 3 days, and they droped me and picked me up from the hre car company.

Give Craig a call 0845 370 3227.

Good luck.

Update!
Craig very kindly returned my call this morning and the deed is done.
I will book the car in as soon as I have an exact delivery date and let him take it apart

If it comes out as nice as Richards (and I'm sure it will) the family will be chuffed!

I have AMI on the car so don't need a Denison unit but will have a spare AV input in the glove box (plus charger) for my Archos media player. The unit has a 100GB harddrive so I can store well over 60 movies. Enough to keep anyone happy surely!

Bungle, can you tell me more about the ECU remap? Sounds like a good option if it improves performance and economy but what does it do to the Audi Warranty? Does it invalidate it?

I'm driving an S line Q7 3.0 TDI (in mugello blue which seems a rare choice but I love it).

Cheers,

Ed
