Default Arnott Coilover Spring Conversion Only Thread

Hi all, I wanted to start a new thread that only deals with the Arnott Coilover Spring Conversion for the allroad. No compressor talk, no air talk, just springs and issues or accolades. Here are my issues:
2003 allroad, just did the coilover conversion in San Mateo at Tango. All is fine, no bottoming out, but:
1. there is a mysterious rumble in the rear, like something is loose under the car. Mechanic looked again and found nothing, suspects the springs themselves. My mechanic was impressed with the quality of the springs.

2. Once I unplugged the computer per the instructions from Arnott, the check engine light won't go off. I think this is unique to the 2003, since my computer plugs were different than the instructions. I alerted Arnott and asked for help, but have not heard back from Lisa. There are two plugs on the computer and I will try to unplug them one at a time. check engine light is worse that a suspension light, so I will plug it all in again if I must and live with the suspension light.

Default Check Engine Light Update from Arnott Tech

from Daniel Leone [dan@arnottinc.com]
Hi,
Unfortunately you will be left with a check engine light due to the suspension module being unplugged. If we ever do disable the light I will let you know.
Thanks,
Dan

What's up Duck, we've communicated on the other forum in my thread. One thing I've noticed since installing my kit was that the spring rate is too soft. I've bottomed out a couple of times already. I'm not happy with that at all. The air suspension was much stiffer and NEVER bottomed out even on level one. I think Arnott should have designed their kit closer to the Allroad's original suspension's spring rate. I kind of feel like I'm driving an old Chevy wagon with bouncy springs. I'm not happy at all.

So I have the spring kit on for 2 weeks now. I'm not too happy with the spring rate. I have bottomed out multiple times and the suspension makes a strange sound when it is close to bottoming out. It seems as though the springs compress so much that they bend inward and hit the actual shock body. I'm less than happy with the kit and plan on calling Arnott on Tuesday.

I really would think that the spring rate would be closer to the actual oem spring rate. I NEVER bottomed out the oem suspension. And I was driving at level 1 for a month before swapping with the Arnott kit. I'll keep everyone posted on the outcome.

By the way, me & my friend do experience the same situation of experiencing since installing our kit is that, the spring rate really soft.

Default Arnott Coilover springs - still issues

So, Arnott replaced my rears but I still have a metallic "crunk" noise in my left rear. contacted Arnott, but I think they are sick of me. not sure. I am not bottoming out, in fact, the noise seems to come upon the extension of the spring rather than the compression. oh, and my check engine light is still on.

***UPDATE*****Arnott is replacing my rears again to fix the problem. these guys are serious about customer service.
will keep you update.

Default Oh no.

I just installed the Arnott Conversion Kit on my 02 allroad and immediately noticed that the rear was almost 2 inches lower. Wha!? I have not bottomed out yet and my check engine light is off. I wish I had seen this thread before I ordered the kit! I had to laugh at the 'instructions' that came with the kit for installation. Steps were missing or out of order and photos were not indicated. The rear springs were pretty easy to install, but the front ones were a huge ordeal. Not a one man job. I am at a loss why they are still selling these with the wrong springs for the rear. Spring rate is Physics 101, not rocket science.

The ride is ok, but certainly not sporty or stiff. More like a big wagon feel similar to how the original air suspension was.

I'll keep posting here with what happens. I thought I was done already.
