allroad headlight removal

My service manual CD says there are only the three Torx bolts. Next, disconnect the multi-pin connectors, rotate the headlight toward the center of the vehicle and remove. The beginning of the headlight removal section says 'remove front bumper' but I don't know if that is necessary or not, never having taken a headlight out.

There is a sneaky forth torx on left I have found and amazingly your manual seems right as I cannot get near it, but it would be easy without the bumper, how crazy is that ?
