Hi all
I've got an Audi Allroad (2000). 98k miles. Recently the air compressor for the suspension has started getting very noisy, its obviously on its way out. None of the air springs seem to be sagging, so Im hoping only the compressor itself needs replaced. Does anybody have any idea of the costs involved ? I'd rather avoid using an Audi main dealer if possible ! Any help would be much appreicated. Thanks Mark |

Hi
It turns out one of the compressors mounts had come off due to corrosion. All it needed was a plate riveted back on using 4 rivets. So I presume this could be quite a common fault. If you took it to an Audi garage they would probably replace it costing about 1000 UK pounds when it should cost about 50 UK pounds. Locate the compressor and see it moves about, if so you probably have the same problem. Cheers Mark |

Here in Seattle I was quoted $800 to replace the air suspension per wheel. I assume that is parts and labor. Just to give you an idea of what it "will" cost "when" it fails. I say "will" not from experience but from what I have been told by a few German auto repair shops in my area. They list the things that will fail on the Allroad and the air suspension in the first one they all mention.
I just got an Allroad (used) 2004 and love it. But...I am starting to see that repairs are pricey! |
