I have an 03 Allroad six speed what a sweet car. I am living on borrowed time at 80K and haven't changed the timing belt. Got quoted 2 - 2500K to do the work. Ouch. Has anyone done it themselves? I've been looking on the forum and haven't read anything.
I have the repair manual and the engine is complicated but I've built VW's and worked on Detroit diesel's which are pretty complicated. I found a site Blauparts where you order the parts and can rent the tools to do it. Anyone have any wisdom? |

I would look to quote out a repair from someplace that will warranty the work for a while. 3 mos is ideal, but hard to find. I have seen quotes of 1k to 1,800 U$D.
When in the service position, it makes sense to do the water pump and some other work as well. That is probably why the total cost is so much higher. Last edited by cms_45 : 09-01-2007 at 12:25 PM. |

i think the 2.7 are especially easy to work with, what great engine but special tools are going to be need for the repair like the screw clamping bolt -3242- for the crankshaft, you can get away without using it i do anyway just dont lose TDC, a spanner wrench to remove the viscous cutch fan, a pulley remover or audis special tool -T40001 have fun and good luck
