Default Slow throttle response.

I have a 2003 allroad 2.5 diesel (180bhp version) with tiptronic auto box.
There is a delay between pressing the thottle, and the car actually responding. This can be very noticable if you are required to pull out fast from a busy junction.
My Audi dealer tells me it is a problem with this engine and gearbox combo.
Does anyone know how this can be improved?
I am considering a superchip ecu remap as a friend said it helped a similar problem on his Audi.
Advice please.

Hello John, the o1v box has few faults but consider atf condition and level as well as learnt values in engine management. The kick down adaption may require attention so there could be a problem with engine speed signal and transmission speed signal but a remap will help out if the box is in good order.

Default Thanks for help.

Hi a8 tech,
Thanks for your advice, the car has done 73000 miles, could this mean ATF needs changing. Car serviced by main dealer, so they should have delt with this should'nt they?
As for technical stuff, car going in on Tues to be looked at for this problem(and a few other minor requirements) will they know what to look for, or should I give them your advice?
If this does not resolve the problem, I am going to get the remap.
Thanks a million,
John.

I have the same symptoms in my Allroad, with 74000 miles. Begins in 2nd gear even from a stop, and is very reluctant to downshift. Had it at a mechanic I trust (although not an Audi specialist) who said that it had full trans fluid, and seemed mechanically fine, probably needed a solenoid or maybe reprogram.
The car shifts fine in manu-matic by the way
The dealership said that the problem is internal, and will require that they order a factory rebuild. Parts and labor will be $6300 +tax.
Who would you believe?
