Default 02 allroad turn signal relay

I believe I have a bad turn signal relay in my 02 allroad. Signals are either flashing intermittently or not flashing at all. The hazards work fine, the issue is only with directionals. Does anyone on the forum know the location of the turn signal relay and have any directions on how to get to it and obtain the replacement relay? Your assistance is appreciated.

I think it is all located in the Hazard lights assembly switch

Thanks for the information. I have some conflicting information. I have heard that it is in the hazard light assembly switch and I have also heard that it is located behind the radio and climate controls. Any thoughts on which might be correct?

There is an article in the latest Audi driver magazine about this fault.
According to this article, the relay's are located inside the Hazard light switch assembly.
This is the same for all VAG group vehicles.

Thank you for the help. I was just able to determine last night that it is in the hazard switch assembly. I ordered the part and am just waiting for it to arrive. I appreciate it.

I have the same symptom on a '03 A6. How do you access the hazard switch assembly?

You need to remove the black plastic or wood surround plate that is above the radio. Be careful as there are six clips that hold this in and it can be difficult to get out. If you crack the plastic that damage is not too bad. I think about $30, but if you break the wood it is about $150. Your best bet is to pull out the radio with some radio removal keys and pry the plate forward toward you with a plastic puddy knife. Good luck.

Default A6 turn signal relay

What ever you do, do not remove the radio there is not need to. Take a butter knife and slide it in between the wood grain plastic piece and the rubber molding. The wood grain piece will slowly come out of the six clips. This will expose the hazard button and assembly. The hazard swich has a steped base, just pry it from the top and then the bottom until it pops out. There are two spring clips one on each side of the hazard button. Unclip the electrical plug and replace it with the new hazard switch. Took me less than 10 minutes.
