Cause of P0741

I have been thru this several times, and it is always caused by low tiptronic fluid. Once I started filling the fluid cold instead of per the manual, the fault went away. If the fluid is just alittle low, it will suck air in a hard corner, and the light will come on instantly. If you reset the light, it will come on in the first hard corner. BTW, I use a Wal-mart "measu-funnel" tied to the passenger side mirror, +55" of .5 inch O/D clear plastic tubing (home depot) attached to it to reach the trans fill port under the car. I just jack up the RR tire so I can slide under, start the car, click thru all the gears into park, pull the fill plug, stick the tubing up into the slot in the standpipe, add Pentosin fluid until it overflows, pull the tubing, install the plug and presto; no more "check engine" light. Hope this helps.

2002 A4 5 speed Tiptronic Quattro w/P0741

I know this thread is old. Mine seems to be doing the hard corner routine after I clear the codes. I checked to see if I could top it off, but the transmission pan is not as deep as others I've seen and I don't see any place to fill it, only bottom drain plugs. I heard that some transmissions are not servicable. As far as I can tell its a 01V transmission. Any advice would be great as I'm due for a smog check.
