Hi Guys,
I own a 2006 A8 3.0tdi sport with 19" 12 spokes. The car has covered less than 16000 miles since I bought it new and the wheels are already corroding from the centres out and at the rim (white pitted marks). They have never been near a kerb and are cleaned regularly with water. Audi have thus far been non committal to sorting this under warranty. I have noticed other A8's with similar problems and am wondering if anyone else has had the same problems with the wheels and their dealer? Thanks. |

I have the same with 19 in alloys on a 2002 A8. Audi replaced them at 2 years and 15k miles. The replacements started to corrode at 36K and 5 years - disgraceful for a quality car. Now Audi do not want to know. I have contacted central tech and written to Service people - all just pass the buck. So, I have had 2 wheels beautifully refurbished by Pristine Wheels in Woburn Sands at £116 each - I will treat the other three soon.

Thanks for the reply.
I have suspected that Audi have an inherent problem with these wheels and your email has confirmed this. I totally agree with you that this is a disgarce, on what is, an absolutely great car in every other respect. It really let's it down because it is such a visible flaw. You really don't expect it on a £50000 car. Audi have managed to replace the centres (the cheap part!) but aren't committing to the wheels. If they do agree, in light of your email, I will opt for a different style. Many thanks, Nick. |
