I have a 2004 A8 & from time to time my nav posts the message "please check Navigation DVD"! Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on before i take it too the $$DEALER$$?

Two options.1 the disc is defective.2 the drive unit is defective if you have vag com you can check the condition of the disc by reading measured value 07 if the value is 3 the unit is ok and possible software update can resolve missing message from nav unit to mmi.Less of the stealers and you may find theres some goodwill contribution also check what sw version you are running at on the mmi display as i bet your around 2020 version so ask them to update you to the sw 5050 and update your nav cd room to 2008.Note sat nav unit doesnt update when updating mmi sw versions
