Default Audi virgin........being seduced by an S8! A few questions.....

Hello Audi forum!

So it seems that we now need a second car and I have always had a hankering for a fast Audi.

A reputable maindealer in Abu Dhabi ( I live in Dubai) has a Magic Blue 2001 S8 with only 44000Km on the clock, complete service history and dealers 12 month warranty.

I am going to go take it for a drive on Saturday and go through the history with a fine toothcomb, but it seems like a good buy to me!

The price in Dhs is 99000, which is 13500 pounds stirling or circa $26000 at current rates.

So - does this seem like a good value buy?

Are there any major pitfalls I should be aware of or points to note when I check the thing and test drive it?

Should I just ignore the S8 and go for the Silver 2001 W12 in stock instead?

Cheers

Hi Weasel

I would go for the S8 but that is personal choice
Drive both & see what you think.

Would certainly negotiate that price down as your buying in Dubai

SneakyMcc guide read & digest

And i'm sure you don't need me to tell you, over there double check vin/ engine nos etc against all paperwork with a magnifying glass.

Hope you get yourself a cool deal & nice Audi to run on those lovely cheap fuel prices

Cheers for the info guys!

Roll on saturday......

I would hope (but am not assuming) that as it is from a very reputable Audi/VW/Porsche dealer that all should be kosher with the vehicles history - certainly the 1 year extended dealer warranty is a bonus.

One question I did have re: service intervals:

OUt here in the desert, due to the heat and dust, you normally expect service intervals to be greatly reduced. My Subaru is every 5000km!

The guy I spoke to at the Audi garage however, reckoned that a minor was 15k and a major every 30.

Now I can only assume that either:

A) The Audi is made of sterner stuff than other cars and genuinly does need less freuqent attention, even out here or
The guy was fibbing.
