Default Fuse blowing

I have a 97 a8 with 130000 miles on it. Just recently the car died all of a sudden while I was driving. I tried to crank it but it sounded like it wasn't getting fuel. I checked the fuse panel in the passenger kick panel and found a blown fuse. I replaced it and the car turned back on. So I drive it like this for the next couple of days and then it happened again. The same fuse blew. Replaced it and it goes fine. I know this will happen again but I've got a couple of questions. My car was bought used about a year ago and I don't have a manual for it. The fuse panel doesn't have a diagram so I don't know what the blown fuse goes to but I imagine it may be the fuel pump. It is the last 15amp fuse in the blue row of fuses. Last being closest to me while sitting in the passenger side. What is this fuse and does anyone have a diagram for the fuses that I can look at? If this is a fuel pump, how involved is it to replace. I havn't gone out to buy a repair manual yet and just want to know what to expect or even if this a recurring problem with something else.

Thanks for that web site. Lots of good stuff in there. Still haven't found a diagram. I ordered a manual but it will be a week b4 it gets here. I put a bigger fuse in the car thinking maybe the original was too small. Haven't had it blow since sunday but we'll see.

Thank you very much for that pic! Just what I was looking for. And you know what, it is the fuel pump fuse that blew. Do you think the pump is going bad and sending an electrical spike to the fuse and popping it? That pic is excellent. Saving me a lot of time waiting for a manual. I really appreciate it!

Your very welcome, sorry for the delay. You need to ask the guys on the other site, or the guys on an american site I'll pm the address now.

You can email Paul Waterloo who owns audipages (from his site), he might be back from his trip by now.

Let us know how you get on.

Good luck,

Sneaky

Ps, The window washers packed up on my 8 the other day (headlight washers went some time ago). I'll be stripping it down later. You dont have any experience with this do'ya?

;-)
