Hi all,
I have had a read through this forum and others and understand that on the RNS-D Nav Plus, to acheive TV in motion you simply cut the GALA wire. Question is, does anyone have any more instructions on this, and/or photos? Do I have to put a switch in to turn this on and off so my Sat Nav etc still works? Any help much appreciated. Craig. |

Hi,
To achieve this on your car, simply remove the Nav-plus Unit ( ensure you know your radio code) . Once the unit is out, all the connectors are clearly labelled by stickers on the chassis of the unit. As you look at the unit, its the bottom connector containing the power wires etc, my connector was black and its the last pin on the top row (opposite end to earth). It is labelled as GALA on the connector diagram / sticker. You have 2 choices, simply cut it and your tv in motion will work all the time, but you will loose the GALA function, Alternativley (and best option), cut the wire and connect a simple rocker / toggle switch across the connections, mount the switch anywhere thats convienient and then when you want TV in motion, just flick the switch and vice versa. Put the Nav unit back in , re-enter radio code and job done ![]() Last edited by D2mad : 05-08-2007 at 07:18 PM. |

Thanks for the reply.
This should be simple enough then. Could you clarify though, is the only function I will lose by not having it on a switch the automatic volume increase when speed increases? This will not affect my sat nav? Also, can the unit be removed without any special tools etc? Thanks, Craig. |

Hi,
yes you will loose the auto volume increase, the GALA is also connected on the 26pin connector, i think thats the signal the NAV uses. To be perfectly honest, if you go thru the hassle of removing the unit etc, you might as well add a switch while your there in my opinion. with regards to special tools, you will need some Audi stereo removal tools. As its a Double DIN size unit you will need 4 of them. They are available at halfords and local motorists centres and ebay to for not a lot of money. |
