There's something rattling around inside the trim attached to the rear hatch door of my A3. I think two screws have rattled out as there are two holes without screws if I look inside the bulb housings.
I've undone two torx screws on the outside of the trim and I've taken off the access panels for the rear lights. There's also a little flap that pulls out, it's got a symbol of the car with the boot (trunk) open on it, can't work out what this is for. I've pulled the trim down and freed two clips which are just inside the light hatches, but that's as far as I can get, the trim remains stuck. Any ideas how to get further? Obviously my next step would be to use brute force, but I just want to check first! |

Oooo, just spotted this thread, apparently I've just got to pull hard to remove the trim.

Sorted.
I got the panel off and it was the internal screws that had unwound themselves. Naturally, despite both internel screws coming off, there was only screw one clanking around in the insideof the hatch. I presume the other one was either never there, or it flew out when the clips gave way as I pulled it off. If it did it must've gone quite a way though as I spent a good five minutes looking for it in and around the car. A mystery that will never be solved. |
