Hi, just wandering if you could help me out with a problem i've been having with my 1.6 '97 Audi A3..
Since about a month ago, whenever it has to sit in traffic for about 20 mins+, it chucks out a thick haze of blue smoke when I pull away; whether or on I put my foot down or just ease it. There's also quite a bit of black sludge coming out of the exhaust. As long as the car is moving, it's fine, it's just when it has to sit for a while... If somebody could tell me what might be causing this i'd appreciate it. Cheers guys |

It's done 90,000, I took it to my local mechanic who was 90% sure it is the piston rings, said it's unlikely that it'd be the valve seals. I'm also having to clean out the throttle body more and more often aswell not to sure if that's a related problem or not..
I've also just found out the previous owner has had fully synthetic oil running in it which in quite worrying... ![]() ps. thank's for replying and I apologise for not responding quicker but i've been on a team building course for the past month |
