Default drivers door lock button (Flashing Light )

hi i have a 1998 2DOOR Audi A3 and i would love to know how to reset the flashing light on the drivers door lock button

How do you mean reset? is it not working when you lock the car?

thanks for getting back,when i used to lock the door it would flash now it wont come on at all,a mate said you can reset with holding the key in the lock position but this does,ent work either, THANKS AGAIN. TAM

This indicates that the alarm is not setting, most probable culprit is the bonnet switch, quite easy to disconnect and bridge to check.If you have dash display it should show it if it is open, same with tailgate or doors. Something is not shut for it not to set.

hi badger tyed your tipp to bridge out bonnet switch still no joy but i have now noticed a wee switch on the pillar next to drivers seat if i press that in the light comes on but goes straight out again and have sure everything is shut, thanks again. TAM

That switch turns off the interior monitoring so looks like the system is live. Another weak area is the microswitch in the drivers door latch, do you have Driver Information System (DIS) on the dash that shows a door open?

no badger i have not got DIS, The only thing that comes on in the dash is the milage lol ? Tam

OK, try it with the plug off the bonnet switch and not bridged and the same thing with the tailgate switch, if you want to go further you will need to trace the door switch wiring to the lower "A" pillar connectors, however a quicker way is to get some diagnostic reader to look at the value blocks in central locking to see what the control unit is seeing as open.
