Smell

Hi all,
Quick question to see if anyone can help. I recently have had a repair job done to gearbox in my 99A3, which involved fixing a seal after an oil leak, it was fixed and now has full tank of oil.
For the last few days though everytime i drive somewere there is a burning smell coming from under my bonet. It is the type of smell you would get from an old bus, this was never here before.

I am nervous of driving it now as I don't know whats going on. Anyone come across this or shed a bit of light on it?
