Question Rattle

I have a 2006 (56) 170 ps 2.0 tdi quattro sportback, from new in certain conditions(generally accelerating after being on the overun at slow speeds)or sometimes peedling along in second or third gear I can experience a distinct heavy "rattling" noise from the engine , a typical early diesel rattle from years ago when they were in their infancy, after a few hundred yards it disappears. I have had it back to the dealer who has yet to hear it as it is intermittent and I can't seem to engineer it. It does sound like a definite top end noise , Anyone experienced this ,is it common to the 170 engine???
