Hi there,
I know my engine is a different one and consequently may have different change intervals, but mine was done by Audi at 77k, under their recommendation, before I bought the car.
IMO it wouldn't need to be Audi doing it, but definately insist on using genuine parts, and use a good reputable garage.

Failure of the belt in service can mean multipounds!

Hi Clarence

I will have a dig through the receipts when I get in, but I know it was done by an audi dealer (stoke audi) in conjunction with some other work.

Cheers

Hi,
I would recommend a belt change if you don't know the car's service history.
As your car is now 8 years old you can get it serviced at a Audi/VW Specialist.
The cost of a Cam belt change will be about £400 to £500. That will include a new water pump as they are part of the service with the cam belt change.
If you go to Audi , they will charge about double that amount.
If you look in your local Yellow Pages, you will find an Audi/VW specialist under Garage or car services. Most region have one of them nearby.
Their Mechanics are mostly Audi/VW trained and they do a great job for much less money than the Main Stealers.
Or you could even try a Seat dealer. They are the same engines and their Hourly rate is again about half that of Audi.
