Dear All
I am the very proud owner of a 2003 Audi S3 (225bhp) with 83K on the clock. Just recently the car is failing to accelerate smoothly without wanting to rev very hard initially ie 4500/6000 rpm from 20/30 mph (2500 rpm) and then dropping down to a more realistic level - however the effort the engine is making the acceleration is simple just not matched!! Basically it is getting to the point that I need to accelerate slowly to stop the engine over reving. I have tested the clutch ie hand brake on, in fourth and it stalls when I try to pull away. The Turbo seems to be making the whistling sounds but then again is this normal. Can anyone help please? Regards Rob ![]() SW London Last edited by S3RJN : 09-29-2007 at 01:05 PM. |

I have a similar prob with my 98 A3, Non-turbo. Tho I have found that it doesn't do it all the time and 1st gear is usually fine, just noticeable in mainly 3rd, 4th and 5 gears.
I've been told that as it doesn't do it all the time it could be a leak with the transmission fluid? |

I have had bad problems with A3 clutch including the problem you discuss. 3 master cylinders and a slave later (all under repair waranty).... Latest symptoms fixed by changing some part of the hyd piping. I am fully expecting to be revisiting the garage in 8 months time !!
