Default Thinking of buying an A3 1.8 Sport

Hi, I'm currently the owner of a very pretty, swift but very unreliable Fiat Coupe. After once again being let down by the Italian donkey (at 5am on my way to catch a plane which I didn't catch) I've decided to complement my German girlfiend with a German car and I'm flirting heavily with the A3 1.8 Sport and looking to progress to heavy petting in the next few weeks. Is there a buyer's guide on this forum? What do I need to look out for when buying? Also, I've seen a few very low mileage ones (2001 models with around 35-45k miles) on Autotrader in my budget. Is such low mileage a good thing or potentially a bad thing?
Thanks
