Hello all from newby. Sorry that my 1st post is a question, but a lot probably are.
Sons 'T' reg. Audi S3 is breaking rear right upper and lower track control arms with about 6-8 week intervals. 1st was lower, shortly after 2nd hand purchase, replaced by genuine Audi part. Followed about 6 wks later by upper arm. Figured that upper had been weakened by broken lower, so replaced both arms with genuine Audi parts. Guess what, 6 weeks later, lower control arm has broken again. All breaks at wheel end of arm. Car drives straight when back together, and luckily all breaks have occured at parking speeds, but very worried as you can imagine. Can anyone help? |

I would suggest the mounting bushes are the metal bearing type and are siezed and should be replaced for the later type, hopefully if the Audi centre is on the ball they will spot this., if not you may want to ask them to inspect the outer bushes.

Spot on Badger 61... Car is now back with replacement for siezed outer bush, new control arm and 4 wheel alignment checked for labour cost only. Hows that for service! Dealer principle said that the siezed outer bush was only the 2nd he'd come across.
Much obliged for replies. |
