This was for FSI cars not TDI, It's difficult enough to locate some noises when you have the car to test let alone from a description on a forum (which there isn't). A road test with your local centres tech may be able to locate common areas of concern. If you don't demonstrate the noises it is not always obvious to other drivers as variables such as , driving style, engine speed ,road conditions and ambient temperature all have an effect, what you think is a rattle in the rear of the car could possibly origonate from the front due to acoustic resonance of trim. Yes it is annoying but believe me also frustrating for the tech trying to find it.
