Unhappy constant problem w/ oil sensor light activating when engine warm and ticking over??

hi all- newbie here- not sure where to start with the catalogue of problems I have had with my 2001 Audi A3 1.6 since I bought it 2 years ago - but to be brief my current problem which I have been trying to resolve for the last year!!! is that when engine is warm and on tickover at traffic lights etc. the oil sensor light/sound is activated- now if I rev the car gently and keep it around the 1 mark it is ok-
the problem started when I had it serviced last August 06 and had a new oil filter fitted- I have had 3 filters fitted since that point- but think the mechanic must have disturbed something!!
I have had the pressure checked-fine
I have replaced the oil pressure switch- did nothing
new oil pump fitted-expensive waste of time (as that was what the Audi garage kept suggesting even though I new it couldn't be that as surely I wouldn't have been able to drive it for so long with the problem and the pressure was fine)
I even tried adding an additive to the oil
all the above have been very costly and still the blooming thing keeps beeping and flashing (technical terms!) at every set of traffic lights - now living in London you can imagine how many sets of lights i have to contend with and the volume on my stereo doesn't quite drown out the noise!!!
sorry to rant but its driving me to distraction- has anyone out there had a simliar experience????? Di

Disconnect the oil light sensor and bridge the contact of the wire to earth,if the light stays out the wiring is ok but the dash insert may be suspect as you say the oil pressure is ok.The dash gives out 12 volt feed to the switch, the switch is earthed via the threaded connection to the engine, when the oil pressure drops the contact in the switch allows the circuit to become open circuit(no earth) and the light comes on,so if the wire to the switch is given a earth then the light should stay off and this would indicate the condition of the circuit. Also if this is akl engine code you can increase the idle speed via adaption channel 13 in engine electrics to illiminate low voltage from the alternator

thanks for such a quick response- I haven't had the chance to get it fixed yet but will drop you a line when I do.
Many thanks again-if only I came here months ago could have saved myself £500!!!!
