My first post in this forum, hehe Mate, it sounds like your ignition coils or spark plugs are on their way out and you are getting missfires on one of the cylinders. Does the car smell of petrol more than usual?

I had a very similar problem last week - the car was running abit lumpy and barely enough power to pull the car along. Don't drive it whatever you do un til u get this fixed. The unburnt petrol in the engine can make it's way to the Cat and then u're looking at a very big bill to get that replaced.

If you know someone with a vag com cable/software, then they could tell you exactly what is wrong with it. If it's one of the coils I recomend that you replace all of them... At 25 squid each, it ain't cheap, but very easy to do yourself, so no labour charges need to be involved if yo uhave the most basic of tools.
