Red face 2005 2.0TDI 140HP Clutch

Over the weekend had to get Audi Roadside out to my A3 as there was a strange noise coming from the engine bay when I had been sat in traffic and the engine had got really hot. The tech that came spent a long time trying to repeat the noise by warming her up and he has diagnosed a potentially warped clutch plate. The sound is the clutch plate skimming the fly wheel when the pedal is pressed in. took it to the dealer and it has been booked in for investigation and they have ordered a new clutch ready if it needs one (can't complain there .) The main thing, was just wondering if this had been experienced by anyone else as the dealer seemed far to keen on booking it in under warranty for it not to be a recognised problem.

Anyway....if anyone has experienced this perhaps you could let me know.

Thanks

Chris

Ask the dealer if recall 13C7 duel mass flywheel has been carried out.I think you car should fall into this recall.Other than that no real clutch problems just wear and tear and odd fly wheel failure.Warranty doesnt normally cover clutch wear but it will cover mechanical failure that isnt driver misuse.Hope that helps a little.

Thanks. I will ask the queswtion of the dealer. As it has only covered 17,000 miles and it hasn't been driven necessarily hard I wouldn't expect to be paying for a new clutch just yet. It drives perfectly, just makes the noise when it gets hot.

Work has been completed today. Dealer have replaced the metal sealing flange between the engine and gearbox after advice from Audi Technical. Apparently the flange was catching when hot.
