Default 2.0Tdi Sport idle problems

Hi all,

I have a 06 2.0Tdi 140bhp with idle problems. It is mainly after driving at speed then coming to rest. After a few seconds the engine starts to shake the car. It is a bit hit and miss but at times it feels as if it is going to cut out. Audi have said that this is normal!!! After driving diesels for over 10years I have never experienced this before.

Does anyone else have thsi problem??

Does anyone know how to solve it?

Thanks

Whats the mileage,i bet its 40,000 miles plus.Possible cause without fault code or mil light, egr sticking open or tandem pump pressure loss.Disconnect egr valve vac pipe and try that.WARNING LIGHT WILL COME ON.

Only 15,000 miles to date. I have had the car from 6,000 miles and the problem started about a 1,000 or so miles after that and is getting progressively worse.

Why recommend doing something that will actually bring on the engine management warning light. This will only mean the OP will then HAVE to go to either an Audi stealer, or an Indi, or someone with VAG-COM to clear the codes !!!!

Its under warranty (60,000 or 3 years) and its only a suggestion. The pipe can be refitted,as a second visit will be required anyway to solve issue. (nob ed)

Exactly, so just refer the OP straight to the stealer!

But a useless suggestion, as it will actually cause more work, and, knowing what some main stealer tecchys are like, will actually confuse them, and the job won't then get fixed on the first visit - which it could be, if only you hadn't told the OP to bugger around with it in the first place!

OK folks no need to argue. For starters what exactly is the egr? The tandem pump pressure loss that a8tech has said, what is that? Is it to do with the fuel injection system??

I do not have any warning lights yet so why should I disconnect a pipe to make one come on. Surely the Audi stealers will suspect that one? I am not getting much luck from them at the mo but I know something is not quite right with my so called Vorsprung Durch Technik engine!!

Ok lets sort this out,you need to speak to your local audi dealers master technician who will be able to road test with you to confirm the issue,if no fault codes and no technical solutions present on elsa ask him to run through a DISS report to submit findings and driver input to the factory. There are currently software updates for exhaust gas recirculation valves and running issues.I mentioned tandum pump also,we have had few mixing fuel and oil causing all kind of running issues at all differant mileages. As for the stealing comment,if you run longlife service and keep the car for three years you will probably have two services in that lifespan and a very good warranty.Best Regards Jon.
P.s. Ihope this helps and be patient master techs have a lot on

Jon

Do the Audi garages still use the portable VAS5050 - for on the fly live data logging, or are they now all restricted to using the trolley mounted workshop VAS5052 ??
