We use 5051b and 5052,we save results via usb so attatchments can be sent via diss reports on elsa to technical then product technical then finally to factory. The problems we have is that more dealers need to feedback faults so better understandig of complaints and quicker repair. As you may no now even this possible egr issue is electronically controled so software is now the biggest issue we have to face, especially if no fault codes are stored.Measured value blocks can give good understanding but it appears tha electric control of the egr was a bad mistake in my humble oppinon, but the green people whant the emmisions down so it is a more accurate way of monitoring. The old ways were better for us techs and the future is just going to get more and more complicated.Best Regards Jon

OK, Jon, thanks for the feedback.
The EGR control is an industry-wide issue, and certainly not unique to VAG products. Thankfully, the FSI petrol engines no longer use EGR, so that's one less thing to worry about! Cheers

Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but I wondered if you ever got to the bottom of this issue? I recently bought a 2.0 Tdi sport and have exactly the same problem, which seems to be getting steadily worse.
I have been back to the dealers who claimed it was the flywheel, which I have had replaced along with the clutch. The problem persists and is if anything worse than previously since the above work. Thanks for any help. |

Remove the fuel filter and look for black sludge(oil deposists)if its black cut open the filter element and look for metal swarp. If you have metal and oil reply if not have the fault memory checked and the fuel pressure checked
