Hi,
I have just bought an A3 2.0 Tdi 140bhp. I want to get it chipped or remapped but dont know much about it. Could someone please explain the difference in the two and the consequent effect on the bhp and mpg. Secondly - the car comes with the audi gsm phone kit. I have a RIM Blackberry 7100 - can anybody tell me whether i will be able to use the car's phone kit with my phone Many thanks for your help!! Ben |

hi ben,
the cars today are really more direct ported than chipped (just a separate module installed on the ECU unit ) and are also be called remaped, the curve lines on the fuel and ignition will be higher, not to get into more details, than the stock so they will produce more hp, the mpg will be less if you step on the gas often but not so different if just cruising. Hope this gave you a little idea......for the phone kit, I just don't use it.... Jose |

There are plently companies who specialise re-maps for audis, check out the AMD website as they list the potential bhp gains for each model. I think a stage 1 re-map starts from about £350, possibly a 30 bhp + gain.
So they claim ate least |
