Default Which Car??

Hey,

considering getting one of the following, looking to spend around 6k.

Audi A3 1.8T (150bhp)
Audi A3 1.8T Quattro (180) if i can find one

VW Golf 1.8T (bit slow) but modds?
VW v6 4motion (insurance a bit high( and MPG bad) but than again

2000/2001 preferrable with leathers.

Any reccomendations , i would conisder re-maps after purchase. Which has the most tuning potential. Can i get a descent one for the money Iam lookin to spend?

Cheers lads

Hi, the A3 is basically a Golf in drag. I haven't checked lately but I'd think that the Audi would command a premium. The quattro will probably be about the same in performance as the Fwd cars, even though the car you mentioned has 30bhp more. Go and drive some, you're not going to buy a car on someone elses say are you?
Both of the 150bhp cars can be mapped to about 210bhp (The drive by wire cars are more susceptable to tuning)
Best advice is to drive one. Best of luck

I personally would avoid the A3 quattro and the Golf 4motion - simply on the grounds that they are not permanent 4wd, but merely front wheel drive, until traction is lost. The Haldex coupling is a bit of an achiles heel, and requires additional regular maintenance.
