A3 xeon headlight converters for driving in europe??

I have a 53reg A3 (old shape) with Xeon headlights... I've rung my local dealer who said I have to book the car in and they will charge £55 to convert them for use in france, and £55 to change when back for UK roads!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another dealer said I can just buy the normal headlamp converter stickers form halfords and it will be OK... but I'd have thought these would melt?

anyone experienced the same problem??

Remove ignition key,remove multi plug connector,remove cover from light units.You should see a lever,turn this up or down to alter pattern.Be carefull when working with xeon lights you may get a bit of a shock.
