Default Speedo Fault?

Hi All,

I have an Audi A3, 30k on clock, when driving at 70 the revs are sitting at 4000 so I thought something was wrong. I have brought a Tom Tom and checked the speed, it appears my speedo is 10% out, ie when I am driving 60 according to my speedo the tomtom said 70 and so on. I have had the ECU checked and it has come back no problems, the speedo was also checked via the ECU and was all OK.
I have full Audi Service history and no known problems but am really worried about this speedo issue, and want to get it resolved urgently.
Anyone got any idea's or know anyone in Herts area who could come and have a look or repair, I am happy to pay what ever to get this resolved...

Thanks
Steve

Your speedo, have you got stock tyres on eg 225 45 17-wheels
or an after market size bigger wheels this may give you the wrong speedo reading

Your speedo is technically within tollerance, as, by law, speedos are never allowed to under-read, but can over-read by upto 10% - though Audi speedos are generally quite accurate.

For example, at a genuine 60mph, the vehicle speedo can actually (legally) display anything between 60mph to 66 mph.

I think the OP may have something confused with either his maths, or got his words the wrong way round!
