Hi everyone,
ive had my 2.0tdi a3 for over 2 years now and everywhere i read it says the car has rain sensing wipers!, but i dont know how they work....help!???. mine is the SE and has the auto lights etc, the wiper stalk has not auto position and the only thing it does do is if the wipers are on and you stop in traffic they go back to intermittent, is this the extent of auto wipers?!!!. thanks for your help, just wondered if its me doing something wrong Jeremy ![]() |

The rain sensor is attached to the back of the rear view mirror.
Can you see through the windscreen a sensor in the middle of the black suction cup that holds the rear view mirror in place? If yes, then you have automatic rain sensor screen wipers. Position the wipers stalk in the intermittent position and when it starts raining they should start to work automatically. On the stalk, there is a small black step switch, which allows you to increase the sensivity of the sensor. |

mavala,
thanks for that, well i looked and do have a little sensor in the mirror holder bit, i thought that was for the lights!!. The little clicker on the stalk seems to adjust the speed of the intervals between each wipe when its on intermittent?!. so how do i get it to do it automatically thanks jem |

As said previously put the stalk to intermittent and leave it there. Then pour some water onto the sensor and the wipers will work if auto. You may have to move the little switch that increases/decreases the length of interval between wipers motoring. If you do have auto wipers when you start the car on subsequent occasions the wipers won't be in auto until you move the interval switch.
