1) when starting the car it sounds like a tractor then after about 10 seconds it is quieter. almost sounds like the valve llifters are loose (if they have any)
2) car seems to be sluggish almost feels as if it is running on three cylinders also sounds like it. tried replacing the coil packs but still the same.
please help as my missus loves this car and she said i have to fix it.
Sounding like a diesel for the first 10 seconds is perfectly normal for a 1.6 FSI motor. They all do it.
Do you know anyone with a Vagcom? If you've tried the coilpacks and that's made no difference, then it really needs to be scanned to see if any errors show up.
Unfortunately, slugishness and engine management lights are all too common on the 1.6 FSI engines.
