02 Audi A2 FSI SE - good deal?

Hi guys, I'm new round here and wanted to first of all say hello. I have a question about an A2 my dad wants to get. A dealer is giving him an 02 plate A2 with the 1.6 FSI engine and SE trim for 5879 with 1 years tax and the option to have a years parts and labor warranty for £150.

The car is the 5 seat version but is missing its rear headrests but otherwise is in good condition. What I want to know is does this sound like a good deal and if so what are the things I should look out for before we get the car?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

forgot to mention it has 76000 on the clock and is petrol.

Where do you want to start with a2.Not the best car audi make by a long shot.Sorry to any a2 drivers but there pants,thank god they stopped making them R.I.P. A2S.

Even though the A2 has high maintence costs it is still an okay car.

Nice price too a year ago i paid around £7,500 however only with 30,000 done.

I'm considering buying an A2 (TDI). Can you expand (or point to some other threads) on why you have this opinion? I'm interested in why you might think this.

I was slowly forming the opinion that the A2 is a future classic.

(I quite a lot of experience of VAG cars btw. but not had an Audi yet).

You have to back that up mayman as I would have to say in my eyes not the best looking car on the road but for a around town car it serves a purpose and if cheap enough I would look at one as a town car.

Did a little hunting around and found this little gem Link for £5,495 same spec as what you stated but with traction control and with 2k less miles on it. With a little negotiating you could get a little of and work a warrantee plan as well and still be quid’s in but in all it does not sound too bad.

Pretty sure they all came with traction control.

The lack of climate control would put me off that model.

Avoid the FSi (engine code BAD! What does that tell you?) and go for a TDi if you must.
