Default A2 front knocking noise

for the past few months our A2 has made a knocking noise from the front of the car. But it's getting louder.

The noise is quieter the faster you go. Occasionally when you turn the car to either side to go around a corner at low speeds it makes a really loud knock noise.

Any ideas to what this might be please?

Default Knocking noise

The knocking noise from the front may be your drive joints as the
knock is louder when you turn
2 number joints on each drive shaft

If it’s not what trev m says - I’ve had two knocking noises from the front:
  • Is it a “misfire” that increases with speed? – If so it’s the driveshaft
  • Is it a knock when you go over a small bump in the road but only at slow speed? – If so it’s the Anti-roll-bar links.

Thanks for these replies.

The car went to an Audi garage and they did say it was the anti-roll-bar and they replaced one link. But it's still making a knocking noise. I presume it needs all of the links replacing?

Also when you brake at speeds over 70mph the steering wheel almost shakes madly. Any ideas?

That normally means that your discs are warped, i have it too on a car with only 18K on the clock
