I have a 2001 A2 which has just been in for a service at 37000 miles. The dealer has advise that the discs need replacing and I was wondering what the average life expectancy of the A2s discs are. The car is driven mostly on motorways and trunk roads.

Glad to have found these forums,

I would have thought that the pads would require replacement before the disc do? If you think they don't then either get a second opinion or jake up the car, take a wheel off and have a look yourself.

Well if they need replacing either they are too warped or are too thin to re-face (or both). Either way, I presume this isn't the first time the brakes have been done on this car, and if that is the case, 37k miles is pretty early for a second brake job!
Maybe you should have another mechanic have a look at the car.

I had both discs and pads replaced first time at 100,000km. Audi garage said that when they replaces pads, also discs are normally changed.

Thumbs down

Hiya,

Sounds to me like its another example of a Audi dealer trying to rake more cash off you. If the disc's should last longer, normally 2/3 sets of pads - but as said above, if there thin, (or cheap discs could of been fitted in the past) or if the pad wear has been uneven it could cause problems,

if you know what your looking for have look,.

Cheers
