A2 Headlights And Hello All

Hello everyone just discovered this site. A2 1.4 diesel great flexible car excellent fuel economy biggest downside is the very poor driver visibility, but you get used to it. The headlight cluster on an A2 are almost impossible to access the usual way - from the inside. I have managed to change both near and off side headlight bulbs but trying to renew the nearside front signalling bulb has defeated me. My local AUDI garage cannot advise me how to do it on health and safety grounds!!!!! apparantly danger of electrocution!!- but they would change it for me for the sum of £25.00 +VAT

Grateful for any ideas.

Dead easy

Pull the front grill down.

Remove the bonnet... (2 plastic clips - half turn)

By memory, you need a T25 torx screw driver & take the headlight out.
There are 2 screws that hold it in at the front & it clips into a bit at the back.
Loosen the 2 screws & shoogle the headlight gently to free,
Then you can get into the light cluster...

Good luck... it's actually quite easy.... Max 30 min job for both head lights!!

thanks david I'll try that. I'll need to purchase some of the torx screwdrivers whatever was wrong with the good old allen key!!

One side done in 10mins with right tools and knowledge. I reckon an Audi mechanic could do it in half the time I took. Audi are shooting themselves in the foot by charging exhorbitant rates for simple work. they will simply lose valuable customers to other marques. I have been an Audi owner for the last 15 years (apart from a 3 year spell with BMW-the worst car I've owned for coping with snow and ice) and I am going to be looking at other manufacturers lifetime running costs to compare. Anyone elses experiences would be gratefully received and appreciated.

Excellent - Glad you done it ok.

I got a quote last week from Audi Edinburgh for replacing my front brake pads
£160!!!!

I bought the Textar pads from Euro car parts for £44 (Original Audi but stamped Textar & £22 cheaper)

My local garage fitted them for £28
Unbelievable!!! - I got the job done for less than half price & with proper Audi parts........

headlamps r easy once you know the hand book says take it to a garage, i did and got stung after that i got out the torx out !!!
