I have for a period had some problems with the gearbox at my Audi A2 1,2 TDi.
It sometimes dont want to release the gear to a lower one. NOthing exept stopping the car and switching the engine off, helps me for driving further. Has anyone had similar problems? Stefan Svensson |

Hello Stefan
yes, we had the same problem, and have to take it to Audi for repair. they had the car down 3 times before the problem was fixed. they thought that is was a hydralic tube, but found out that it was a hydralic pressure feeler, then the problem was solved. Thank you Kim for your answer.
(I am tempted to write in Swedish, as I understand you live in Denmark...) However, Do you have the part number of the part they shifted out? It would be very helpful if you could give it to me. Did you also make any reading from the memory of the databox in the car? Did you get any fault codes, that might be helpful for me? Stefan S |

Yesterday this 2 month drama got its solution. For the third time I visited the Audi Workshop in Växjö for consulting them on this problem.
I asked them if they had checked the hydraulic oil level, and they said Yes. When checking the container, there was just 10 mm oil heigth in it. I asked them to fill it up and they could fill in about 200 ml. Then I said: I can go for a test ride during your lunch-time, and did so. For 40 km I couldn´t repeat the problem I have had instantly after some 2-3 km before. I believe the problem is solved. The workshop answered after lunch-time when visiting them again: Excuse us, we are ashamed... I am happy, although I have had several bad nights thinking over how much this will cost. Now it was solved for free! Stefan |

Hi,
I had a similar problem. A2 was twice at garage and they said the reason is oil leakage in 'gear change robot'. I verified it myself, it was really leaking. After they fulfilled it with new oil, transmission was working just fine. However this part was now changed (leaking oil isn't that nice). Total cost 1600 euros. Audi paied 50% of it. |
