This may sound stupid, but it stumped me for months on mine one time. You must have the truck in the locked position for the top to work....otherwise, it will start the cycle, the rear hatch will come up a couple inches and then it will freeze. Yes, you could have a wiring issue, you could have a problem with the cylinder that raises the hatch itself, or, you might not have the truck in the locked position - all three can give the same symptom. Obviously, the truck not being locked is the easiest to address
