Exclamation Audi 80 Electrcal Problems!

Hey guys,

Just got my self an Audi 80. 1993 2.6E V6 Auto with 160,000kms on the clock. Runs like a dream. Few electrical problems though.

1. Problem with dash lights. All dash lights work except for the clock and the gear selected display. Any ideas?

2. Rear fog lamps. Only one side works. There was a blown bulb in the other side. Replaced that and still does not work. Bulb did not blow. Any ideas?

3. Interior lights. The interior lights do not turn on automatically when I open the front doors. However when I open the back doors all the lights turn on with out a problem. I am thinking it may have something to do with the switches on the doors. Any ideas?

Cheers

1. I have the same problem with mine. I have a 1989, but I'm almost positive we have the same instrument panel. The clock has no light and is somehow self lit. I am trying to replace mine with one from the junk yard. I'll let you know if I'm successful.

2. Rear lamps sound like a broken wire or blown fuse. Check fuse if that is not your issue look at the wires that feed those bulbs on the driver side part of the trunk. Those wires often break at the hinge point. Mine did. I got new wire and saudered and heat shrinked them.

3. Cannot offer much help on the interior lights. Switches is a good place to start, but it would be odd that both driver and passenger switches go out.....driver side is more likely because it gets the most use. Driver side could affect passenger side possibly.
