Default fuel problem ? wire loose

i just got an audi 1984cc 5 speed audi cab it had been stud for five years only kick up in garage for hour every month so i i got it. re place all disk pads callerpers wheel berings. As all were with out swearing ill then i went for spin unreal car was like brand new parkt it up for the night would not start in morning thought it was fuel pump tested em its not it brings fuel up once turns over dies now i found a wire under bonet hanging loose withe metal thing on its juat a stab in dark but think it could be something to do with crank shaft postion centre i dont know were it goes and would this stop my car from starting help please im not well at moment need car to get to hospital for checks and stuff any ideas thanks
