Arrow 93' Audi 90, NEWB, Questions...

First post here. My brother just picked up a 1993 Audi 90 Quattro, 5 Speed. After owning the car for a few days, he had a few questions.

1. The front suspension makes some noise when driving, going over bumps, etc... Sounds like the struts may need replacing. What are some options for this year car, any good websites you would recommend purchasing from? He is not looking for anything too expensive or performance orientated such as Bilstein, just something that will replace the stock units and perform up to par over Chicagos city streets.

2. He may need to have the clutch replaced as well. What are some recommendations for clutches and site to get this from as well? Again, just something to stock specs.

The reason we suspesct the clutch: The clutch is not engaging until the pedal is pretty far up, about 75-80% of the way back to the top. The car is hard to get into first, have to really give it gas, and it will make a little buck sometimes when going into the next gear - hard to get a smooth gear transition with having to let the pedal up so far.

3. The key has a factory remote door opener/closer on it. My brother replaced the batteries with new ones, and went thru the reset procedure of opening the door with the key, etc... But it still does not work. He only has one key, do you need more than one to reprogram it?

Also can copies of the main key be made without trouble at local hardware stores? Or is the key chipped?

4. Most recent problem, I think he blew his power steering. He was driving the car normally and it suddenly stalled when he was changing gears. The battery light, temp light flashing, antilock off, brake light all came on - they were never on before. And his power steeing does not work, it is impossible to turn the wheels.

Someone at an Audi dealer said it probably needs a new Power Steering belt? But he did not look at the car, it was over the phone. Is this hard to replace, easy?

Thanks for the help, if you can answer any of the questions or give some advice, recommendations, please post up!

3. Looks like he did not follow the re-syncing procedure properly. I read some more info on 12v.com and he is going to try the method they have listed to see if it works.

. Found the problem. The tensioner cracked, its laying forward of the engine. Thus the belt slipped off and none of the accessories were working.

So it looks like we need to pick up a new Accessory Belt Tensioner. I looked one up online real quick and found this - LINK

Is that the going price, or can I get this part cheaper elsewhere. And from some reading on 12v.com - it looks like it is simply removed with a 10mm allen wrench/socket - is this correct for his car?
