lighting problems

Hi could any one tell me why my driver side rear lights are not as bright as the other side and how do i over come this small problem

its on my 1995 audi coupe , many thanks

Maybe you or the previous owner may have replaced a bulb with a lower or higher wattage one

thank you for your reply, yeah thats a good point but i had all the bulbs out cleaned them and they are all the right wattage,
