changes from 80 series to s2

were there any major mechanical differences between the audi 80 and the s2? For instance, I assume springs and dampers were different, but did the s2 run the same track and geometry?

the brakes were obviously different, but were the mountings on the suspension struts the same?

I assume the shells were similar in that headlights, bumpers etc are all interchangeable? same with interior trim?

were the s2 gearboxes normal 80 quattro units, or were they fitted with a different casing or ratios?

Audi S2 is one of the greatest car to be tuned.
2.2 turbo ,5 cylinders ,350 hp by MTM ,quattro ,6 speed gear box.
Engine can go up to 1000 hp with serial crankshaft.

I know, but say for instance you wanted a car that handled and braked as well as an s2, but wanted a different engine, it would be criminal to destroy a real s2, so what would it take to build one out of an 80 shell? Just how much did audi change?

hi mate i have a audi 2.3 80 and my dad has a s2 theycars are so different tho mine has a differnt fornt end but im allmost sure aslong as u change the lot it is interchangeable but as far as the running going its alot differnt some mounts are the same some arnt and ob the rear set up is differnt the springs shocks wishbones brakes roll bars even the weight u will nvr get it spot on but differntly get it to look like one becuse that what im trying to do
