Hi guys, I have a weird situation with my 1993 90 CS. Suddenly, my dashboard bulbs stoped working, but only lights that illuminate gauges, speedometer and tachometer. Turn signal bulbs work and gear selection (on dash) bulb works.
Also, when I turn lights on, the bulb that's in transmission for SPORTS button stops working. As soon as I turn lights on - it works again. Does anyone had same problem? Or does anyone know what could it be? It's just so weird. I do not think replacing dash bulbs will help, so what else could it be? Also, I can't figure out how to take shifter knob from auto transmission... Your help is HIGHLY appreciated! Thanks a lot!!! |

hi ive had the same problem on 3 audi 80s check the fuse for dash lights its in the engine compartment fuse box on drivers side beside the bulkhead i cant remember the fuse number but if u check them all u will find it if its blown u need to check the glove box light as thry come loose causing the connections to short out blowing the fuse taking out all your dash lights to fix you could either use insulating tape to keep connections from touching or i just cut the wires going to it replace the fuse and that should be u

I had a similar problem on my 4000S. There was a compartment on the driver's side part of the dash that gave access to the bulbs. My situation seemed to be a loose connection because if I put my finger in the compartment and wiggled my finger around the lights would come on then off. I have decided that that was one of those AUDI electrical situations. Annoying but I loved my AUDI still.

Most probably problem for this is voltage regulator on the other side of dash panel - this one is responsible for dash panel and middle console button symbol lights.
But before that just try more simple thing - maybe by an accident you have dimmed/turned off panel lights with that left regulating stick on panel ![]()
