I recently became the owner of a 1988 Audi 80 and am slowly trying to work out all the little kinks. When I got it, I was told the sunroof simply didn't work, but curiosity got the best of me and I pushed the sunroof button forward (while in closed position) and the flap lifted. As my luck would have it, the sunroof only half-worked and now the flap won't lower back into a closed position. The back button merits no reaction (physical or audible) whatsoever.
Is there a way to close it manually? How hard might it be to fix the whole thing entirely myself? Taking it to a shop is not really an option for my budget so any DIY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

There should be a cover that you can remove in the switch panel for the sunroof that reveals a crank arrangement for closing the sunroof in an emergency. I can remember reading about this in the instruction book for my 1994 A 80. You might be able to pick up an owner's instruction manual on eBay.

Sure i remember reading in the drivers manual that the cover has to be removed from the interior light/roof switch, behind that you should find an allen key or simular which is wound in/out to operate roof. Good luck.
ps. this info comes from a 1993 A 80 se manual. |
