Default 1988 audi 90 5cyl pinging

My 90 pings after riding on the highway and then coming to town with lower revs. It is only after I let off the gas and it is running down from say 2700 rpms. I even put 93 octane gas in it, and to no avail it still pings... any ideas!!??
