Audi Coupe 2.8 V6 (1992)

Hi,

I've just bought a 2.8 V6 Coupe and am worried about a problem with the gears. When I change from 1st to 2nd there is a crunching sound. If I change slowly and at low revs then its fine, also changing down from 3rd to 2nd is fine.

Is this the start of a bigger probelm i.e/ a new gear box.

Hi I have an 80 quattro and have the same problem when changing into 3rd gear, at low revs it's fine but if your higher up the rev range it goes out with a crunch.
I'm no expert on theese things but as far as i'm aware it'll be the syncro mesh duffed up and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg to fix but is a big overhaul to get to it.
