Burning Smell, Brown Radiator Water & High Idling

Hi All,

Can anyone help me with my problems that I am encountering on a recently imported Audi 80 2.6 auto.

The engine idles very high (in between 1800 and 1200 rpm).

Once the engine is warming up there is a smell of burning inside the car!

Looking at the water it is brown in colour and the oil is dark brown (not in the water but engine)

Has anyone experienced this or similar problems and can you give me some assistance please.

It sounds like you may have a cracked block or blown head gasket. I would recommend having your cooling system pressure tested at a respectable garage. Good luck

Thanks for your suggestion.

Currently the car's not on the road yet needs to be mot'd and then get registered but as soon as this is done I can then book it into a garage to get the necessary work done.
